The town boasts a number of must-visit establishments that add to its undeniable charm and country feel.

Pure Café, situated just off Main Road, is a vegan café that forms part of the Greyton Farm Animal Sanctuary. The café uses fresh local produce and serves up incredible vegan fare for breakfast and lunch.

VIVID Greyton Gravel Tour - Cattle

Greyton is situated at the base of a gorge in the impressive Riviersonderend Mountain range. The range is part of a collection of private and municipal land forming a conservatory. The area has a Mediterranean climate, which supports fynbos and other eye-catching species such as ericas and proteas. Numerous watercourses are lined with the likes of wild almond trees and stream conebush.

The VIVID Greyton Overnight Tour is a 2-day 1 -night exploration East, West and in the historic town of Greyton.

  • Beginner to intermediate skills advised but not necessary on gravel.
  • Temperatures can vary between 10 –20 Degrees in winter 20 – 35°C in season.

DAY 1 / Cycling distance 65km, Cycle time 3-4hr

VIVID Greyton Gravel Tour - Accommodation

  • The early bird catches the worm depart from Cape Town before sunrise
  • Arrive in Greyton, coffee/ snacks, change, riding brief
  • Saddle up and head out towards Riviersonderend for the morning ride
  • Spin the legs on great hard-pack gravel roads as we ride abreast of the Riviersonderend Mountain Range and along the winding Riviersonderend River. We cycle through farmland and nature conservation areas. This is not a race but an opportunity to cycle on quiet country roads without the annoyance and dangers of traffic and the hustle and bustle of city life.
  • Snack stop on the banks of the Riviersonderend river
  • Time-out, relax, have a massage (optional)
  • Head out to Greyton for lunch and a tasting of the locally brewed beers. Explore the architecture, heritage and discover the colourful character of Greyton at the Saturday Market
  • Return to accommodation. Unwind, hike up the Gorge to the waterfall or just relax in the tranquillity of the area.
  • Wine tasting from the region’s vineyards accompanied by a selection of delectable cheese (optional)*
  • Dinner at the accommodation

DAY 2 / Cycling distance 65km, Cycle time 3-4hrs

VIVID Greyton Gravel Tour - Day 2

  • 6am wake up call, light health breakfast
  • 7am saddle up and head out West towards the Theewaterskloofdam.
  • We cycle on a variety of terrain from smooth hard-pack gravel to the occasional tar road link, private farm gravel roads and stone river crossings. There is a total elevation gain of between 700m – 800m depending on the route we choose.
  • Snack stop on the banks of the Riviersonderend river

VIVID Greyton Gravel Tour - Day 3

  • We cycle through a few local settlements with buildings dating back to 1738. Explore the architecture and Cape Dutch heritage of Genandendal.
  • Cycle into Greyton for a much deserved lunch and refreshment
